However, the country is based on a culture thousands of years old and still holds a people with deep passions and worldly awareness. This is Marjane Satrapi’s world in her memoir graphic novel, Persepolis. Its pages show the wold of Satrapi growing up in the middle of Iranian Revolution as the Shah fled and a new world defended on her and her family. The book has won countless awards and recognitions for Satrapi’s masterfully portrayal of people caught in the middle of a changing world.
