On October 20 1882 Bela Lugosi is born in Hungary. His life is highlighted with iconic roles that revitalize the American fascination with Bram Stoker’s Dracula and vampires in general.

1931 marks his film debut as Count Dracula in Dracula by Universal Pictures. His role followed him for his entire career as he was frequently casted as a Dracula-like figure or the Count himself. His signature black cape costume, pale face, and black hair are key features branded into the western idea of the “typical” vampire.
