The lights appeared for about a hour over the space of about 300 miles (480 km), including over Phoenix. The United States Air Force identified part of the event, claiming they were flares dropped by A-10 Warthog aircraft in the middle of training at the Barry Goldwater Range in southwest Arizona. In her book, UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record, Leslie Kean uses her expertise as an investigative reporter researching still-unexplained UFO phenomenon summarizes reports, data and first hand accounts to show that unidentified flying objects do in fact exist. Kean argues that UFOs must be more publicly acknowledged and can be understood better with disciplined scientific investigation. The material presented throughout this landmark book is sobering, unflinching, and undeniably awe-inspiring, and moves us toward a goal of properly addressing this worldwide mystery.
