On January 22, 1946, an organization called the Central Intelligence Group is established. It will become the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency. Since its inception, the CIA has been involved in countless missions and has inserted itself as an essential part of global affairs. The extent of its involvement had a light briefly shown on it by Steve Coll in his book, Ghost Wars. Its journalistic quality for reporting the CIA’s secret involvement in al-Qaeda’s evolution earned it a Pulitzer Prize in 2005.
