The killer, Peter Sutcliffe, was convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven others. A short time after, Pat Barker published Blow Your House Down, both of which offers the imagined perspectives of Sutcliffe’s preferred kind of target, sex workers. Blow Your House Down’s plot the lives of two women working in a northern English city at a time when a serial killer who targets fellow sex workers is haunting the area.
