On October 21, 1956, Carrie Fisher is born. She becomes best known for her iconic role in Star Wars as Princess Leia. However, she also leaves a significant mark as a writer. Her notable works include but are hardly exhausted with Postcards from the Edge, The Princess Diarist, and Wishful Drinking.

Besides her books, she was also a highly sought script editor. She has been credited for punching up scripts that include Sister Act and the Wedding Singer. When asked one time for advice on making a better script, Fisher replied, “Make the women smarter and the love scenes better.”
